Two weeks ago I started drinking a green smoothie every morning for health. My Green Smoothie Surprise came this morning when I stepped on the scale and found I had lost 5 1/2 pounds without any work. I have been drinking fresh juice and smoothies on and off for a while but didn’t get serious until two weeks ago. I will admit that I go a little heavy on what I put into the ones I make for my wife and I. By the way, she lost 4 1/2 pounds in 8 days and is now a green smoothie fan. Here is what I put into my smoothies;
Start with about 6 ounces of water in the bottom of your blender and add the following;
about 3 ounces organic blueberries
1 slice of pineapple, about 1/2 thick, cut into small chunks
Small handful of organic spinach
1 stem of beet tops including the red part, diced
! stalk of celery
A few sprigs of parsley
A few sprigs of cilantro
2 leaves of Romaine lettuce
1/2 paddle cleaned cactus
1 or 2 dandelion leaves and stalk
1 or 2 broccoli florets
1/2 oz. hemp seeds
1/2 oz chia seeds
1/2 oz Flex seeds
1 cup of shaved ice.
We have a very powerful blender that turns all this into a really great green smoothie in a couple of minutes or less. There are so many vitamin’s and minerals packed into this drink that you feel the boost of energy almost before you finish drinking it. As an added bonus, you won’t feel hungry for hours.
You are going to be hearing a lot more from me about adding smoothies and raw foods to your life style in the future. It’s the only “non-diet” that I have ever been on where I lose weight without ever feeling like I am depriving myself of anything.
